Two pages showcasing meticulous woodcuts of German towns from the Nuremberg Chronicle, also known as Liber Chronicarum, an incunabulum of world history written by Hartmann Schedel and published in 1493. The woodcut illustrations, attributed to Michael Wolgemut, Wilhelm Pleydenwurff, and possibly their apprentice, Albrecht Dürer, are early examples of the craft and are historically significant as some of the first to depict realistic urban landscapes.
Approximately just 400 Latin copies of this historical document survived into the twenty-first century, of which these pages are one of even fewer in excellent condition.
